Many of you will, probably like me, decide to watch this movie for Yash Chopra. This review is farewell to the man who taught generations of Indians to love.
Director: Yash Chopra Starring: Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma
Jab Tak Hain Jaan is the love story of Samar and Meera. By Itefaq, they see other during one song, Mohobbatein blossom during another song, and become Fanaa in yet another. The Silsila of yet another Yash Chopra movie has begun. It has become a sort of trend in Bollywood these days, that the hero arrives a tad bit too late. By then, the Lamhe is such that the heroine is already engaged to another man. The poor woman has to go through an emotional war to decide between Aadmi aur Insan.
Bollywood has a new villain – Jesus! Samar and Meera are separated by more than a man. Meera, an ardent Jesus bhakta, makes many a promise to Jesus, and Jesus punishes her too, if she does not keep it up. One such deal she makes, is to let go of Samar if he recovers from an accident. Her Dil to Pagal hai, but her promise to Sir Jesus makes her Pyaar Impossible. Samar then comes home to India, to his Parampara business – the Indian Army. This is where he meet budding documentary film-maker, Akira, who wearing skimpy clothes distracts the Jawans from duty. Akira tries her best to woo Samar, but Rab ne Bana di Jodi and Akira cannot snatch Samar from Meera.
Will Samar find out what is in Meera’s life beyond that Deewar of 10 years? Will Akira manage to pataofy Samar and make him her Sathiya? Will it be Samar and Akira’s Band Baaja Baraat or will Samar defeat Jesus and the Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge? The waqt seemed dilated to me.
Alright to know all the answers to the above questions, you will have to watch the movie. But let me warn you that your head will Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.
SRK has taken his character too much for granted. As an actor, his job is to perform. He shows that he can’t dance as well as others, he can’t fake playing a guitar. He even has trouble kissing Katrina! Does he Darr Gauri Khan? SRK, please do your job else you can go home. Bachna Ae Haseeno! Katrina has improved in the acting department quite a bit, although there are scenes where she looks completely clueless. Her dancing has a lot of Dhoom and her Hindi still needs some work. Anushka, on the other hand, was Ta Ra Rum Pum throughout her scenes. She must worry that she would be typecast-ed to such roles.
Ek Tha Tiger Yash Raj! Hum Tum saw his movies and enjoyed them for many years. Salaam Namaste Yashji, hope you legend lives on!
